Various units of the Philippine police have stormed a hijacked bus and shot dead a former officer who had killed seven Chinese tourists after taking them hostage for twelve hours.
17 people survived, while nine were killed, including the hostage-taker. Twenty-two of those on board were tourists from Hong Kong, with three Filipinos - a driver, a guide and a photographer. It took hours of negotiations before a bloody ending was unveiled. Hostage-taking crisis like this do not usually occur in the Philippines.
